Reflections on today's issues

The Bible, God's inspired Word, is complete, valid, able and eternal. The truth and wisdom revealed withing its pages are for all times and all peoples. The nature of man and its manifestations have been a constant throughout history.

Today's issues are at their core the issues of previous generations. Once an individual gets acquainted with God's Book, he or she will come to appreciate how relevant it is today.

We all share the same journey on Earth: we are born, we live and we die. The choices we make during our time here will echo in eternity.

We are all called to take sides, to take a stand and make a difference. As you continue reading, we encourage you to keep in mind the words of Christ: The one who is not with Me is against Me, and the one who does not gather with Me scatters (Matthew 12:30).

God's Word versus homosexuality

God is a God of principle and not a God of circumstance. Hence, God's standard is absolute. God defines what actions constitute sin. Some contend there are no moral absolutes and we should leave morality out of the public debate. This position is nonsense. If there is no absolute moral standard, God's standard, then whose standard are we to use? And why? Who determines if a man's standard is superior compared to the one of another?

Homosexuality is a sin. A man or a woman freely chooses to engage in such behavior. It cannot be blamed on a gene, hence making futile the attempt to portray those involved in it as victims. God is just and He did not create man with a 'pre-existing' condition that would condemn him to hell. Besides, if such were true, then there would be no possibility, and by extension no examples, of men and women turning away from a homosexual lifestyle, fully recognizing the error of their ways.

Under the big tent of conservatism, there are many who adopt half-hearted stands when it comes to the sin of sodomy. Some claim they are somehow above this issue and do not get involved in the debate. To their dismay, they forget that not taking a stand against something equals taking a stand for it. Silence, indeed, can and is in a lot of instances, sinful.

Some take the laughable approach that those who condone or engage in homosexuality but oppose 'gay marriage' are somehow more 'virtuous'. This approach is the result of circumstantial reasoning and situation ethics. It must be rejected and exposed for what it is: a fraud. How can one be a Christian and/or a conservative without upholding the principles of absolute moral law? How can one be a true student of history without understanding it repeats itself? All societies who have embraced and tolerated sodomy have ultimately self -destructed.

Some contend that what happens in the bedroom does not matter. Often I hear people say, I do not care what others do as long as it does not affect me. Really? Have you considered that what others do may and in fact does affect you even if you do not realize it? If only this matter was left in the bedroom by those that seek to make homosexuality mainstream! They have unleashed a full assault on our society and are trying hard to corner those that oppose their agenda. Name calling is their item of choice since God's law, history and mere logic completely obliterate their position. The fact that homosexuality is abnormal, sinful and despicable is as self evident as gravity. Yes, that's right!

Ultimately, all sexual sins represent a devastating attack on the family as God has created it: one man, one woman, for life. The sin of homosexuality is particularly destructive since it does not only destabilize the existence of the family, it seeks to abolish it. Why should we care some may ask? Well, my friends, there can be no society, civil society for that matter, without the existence of family. The civil society cannot coexist, amongst other things, with sexual promiscuity.

Unless this society goes back to God given principles and the rule of law, it is doomed. This is not just another social issue. This is a matter of survival, both on this Earth (if we are to preserve our society) and in eternity (for those of us who have set our eyes on Heaven).

So what now? Understanding and accepting moral absolutes cannot stop with an intellectual exercise and a pat on the back for taking God's side. Our beliefs must be channeled into specific action, otherwise we have already surrendered to the opposite side. The words are: take a stand! These are dire times.

We are blessed to live in the only nation on the face of the Earth whose governing documents (the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence) recognize the existence of God openly. Of course, we know Who the founders referred to: the God of the Bible, the Creator. Politely but firmly, for those of you who do not like it, you are free to leave!

Our governing documents recognize and are grounded in the nature of God. Natural law (God's law) is self evident, both from a physical standpoint (gravity) and a human standpoint (morality). The Bible calls homosexuality unnatural.

Romans 1

25 For they changed the truth of God into a lie, and they worshiped and served the created thing more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this cause, God gave them up to dishonorable affections. For even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature. 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another; males with males working out shamefulness, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error.

What happens if you ignore the law of gravity and jump off a building? You self destruct. And by the way, it does not discriminate. So what happens to a society that ignores natural law and allows sexual promiscuity? Yes, it will self destruct. It is no coincidence the sexual revolution has greatly accelerated the erosion of our great society.

Wait a minute, what are you suggesting? Let me help you: all sexual promiscuity should be outlawed. Yes, you read correctly! Let me say it again: all sexual promiscuity should be outlawed, all of it, homosexuality, bestiality, adultery.

What, are you nuts? Are you advocating a theocracy? No, of course not. A theocracy is state imposed religion. Let me ask you, if you are an atheist and you commit murder, does not the law apply to you even if you do not believe in God Who says Thou shall not kill?!

You do not have to pledge allegiance to a particular religion to appreciate and value unalienable truth and unalienable rights. God did not give man the right to do what ever he wants without consequence. As a society removes the consequence of lawless behavior it distances itself from the order and beauty that can only be achieved when it functions in harmony with eternal principles. Are there atheists out there who would never engage in homosexuality or adultery? Of course!

Let us have at least the decency if not the wisdom to model our laws after God's natural laws, less we become idle spectators to our self inflicted destruction.
